| Entry | Fire trenches Weather. Day not so calm as usual. News received of destroyer and tug. with lighters in tow were aground off Suvla point. After arrival in present line, we had planned to dig support trench behind right of fire line, the present support line being too far in rear, and to assimilate the right to the left of our position for better organisation. The work was abandoned in view of scheme for a general advancement of fire and support lines in front of present position. The same scheme may affect site of new Bn. H.Q. The scheme is a large one involving advance of some 150 yards where the new line will cross our present front and large digging parties will be required, while the whole wiring in front of lines must similarly be advanced. |
