Home of the Infantry Regiments of Berkshire and Wiltshire

War Diary

1915-10-26
Regiment 5th Wiltshire
Location Gallipoli, Lala Baba
Entry Reserve trenches The day passed quite quietly and we were not shelled. Preliminary steps were taken in view to taking over trenches from 8th Cheshire Regiment. Trench work continued. In the evening Lieut C.G. Galpin R.A.M.C. returned to 40th Field Ambulance and was relieved by Lieut J.B. Thackery R.A.M.C. We were sorry to lose Dr Galpin who was forced to leave us on account of dysentery. He carried out his duties with great promptitude and was always pleased to help.
