War Diary

1915-10-25
Regiment 5th Wiltshire
Location Gallipoli, Lala Baba
Entry Reserve trenches 2/Lt H.S. Parker joined for duty and was posted to 'B' Coy. The day was clear warm and sunny and our own hostile airmen were busy. About 4.30p.m our trenches were shelled and one man was wounded. During the last few days considerable numbers of Cranes have flown over our lines in a southerly direction. The Turks and our men fire at them in the hope of having fowl for dinner, but so far both sides have been peculiarly unsuccessful. At 11p.m Lieut E.L. Harrison rejoined for duty after recovering from dysentery from which he suffered earlier in the campaign. Lt Harrison took over command of 'D' Coy from 2/Lt Patterson. 2/Lt C.C. Webb and 2/Lt L.G. Martin joined for duty and were posted to C & A Coys respectively.
