War Diary

1914-12-22
Regiment 1st Royal Berkshire
Location Belgium, Givenchy
Entry Left CAESTRE at 8am in motor buses and drove some 40 miles to BETHUNE where we disembarked and marched to BEUVRY. Here orders were given for A&B Coys to proceed to GIVENCHY to take over part of the line from Scots Guards and London Scottish. C&D were to be in reserve. This latter order was cancelled these two companies going in support to A&B. The part of the line taken over was round south eastern edge of village of GIVENCHY. A quiet night except for occasional bombing and rifle fire.
