Entry The Bn left MULLEBIS at 1900hrs on 17th inst and marched to head of BORDER VALLEY where it bivouacked for the night and following day, during the night 17th-18th. No 3 and 4 Companies went out in front of E12 to E15 to cover parties laying jumping off places and marking places for gaps in wire. On the night 18th/19th the Bn marched to point of assembly C9 b55 FEJJA C3 Map. Arriving there at 2230hrs and bivouacking. At 0200 alll ranks had water served out and at 0315 the Bn moved off to jumping off place in front of E12 to E14, on arrival the Bn formed up in two ranks, with 2/3 Gurkhas on Left and 72nd Punjabis in support. At ZERO -5 MINUTES the Bn advanced and the enemys work F26 was taken by 2 platoons. Continuing to advance the Bn rapidly took the other objectivies with very slight opposition until reaching MISKEH about 1 1/2 miles SW of ET TIRE, where the enemy were strongly entrenched. The Bn advanced in same formation with 2/3 Gurkhas on left and became heavily engaged, No 1 and 2 Companies reinforced No 3 and 4 companies and under cover of S.A.F.A advanced and forced the enejmy to evacuate the positions in front of ET TIRE. It was during the taking of this line of defence the Bn had the majority of the casualties, Col Armstrong, Capt Kinght and 2lt Doddrell were killed and 6 other officers wounded, 13 OR killed and 55 OR wounded. The enemy took up a position through T23 A B to T24 B behind cactus gardens but were driven out by Lewis Guns supported by Artillery. The Bn advanced and captured the Enemys Army Corps HQ at T17a an outpost line was then put out running E and W from T23b 38 to T24a 38. No 1 and 2 in piquet line No 3 and 4 in supports (time 1300). At 1800hrs the Bn was relieved by 3rd Kashmir Rifles and withdrew to T29a 83 and bivouacked. From 20th to 23rd inclusive Bn [ ] in district SW of ET TIRE. On 24th bn took part in Brigade Advance guard Training. On the 26th the Bn marched at 0630 to Y13 b28 and bivouacked in Fig Grove, on 27th and 28th inst the Bn collected material fro making KALKILLEH-TULKERAM ROAD.
