Regiment 2nd Wiltshire
Location France, Richbourg St Vaast
Entry This attack led to a Brigade Conference which was held at our headquarters on this date. Lt Col Jones (commanding Brigade temporarily), Lt Col McGraid, Artillery, Brigade Major, Staff Captain besides Col King and Major Bradbury of the RWF attended and the proposed attack on the 21st was discussed. It was finally decided to postpone it (with sanction from Division) until the heavy artillery and trench mortars had cut the enemy's wire and smashed in his concrete machine gun emplacements. Accordingly at night the Commanding Officer took the right front company and the Intelligence Officer the left and platoons were withdrawn about 300 yards in order to permit our heavies to fire on the enemy's wire. The Battalion front was held by 4 Platoons occupying Platoon posts at 300 to 400 yards interval between Platoons.
