War Diary

1918-06-04
Regiment 2nd Wiltshire
Location France, In Action near Chambrecy
Entry The Battalion remained in the same positions and spent a quiet day. There was the usual artillery activity on the woods and roads, but the trenches escaped notice. At night work was continued on rear lines and all positions strengthened. At 10pm the Battalion received warning that the enemy would probably attack in the morning on our Right flank, and possibly the attack would include our front as far South as CHAMPLAT. The warning was given to all ranks, and all precautions taken. Lieut & Asst Adjt HS KEMSHEAD and 18 Other Ranks proceeded from the Surplus Personnel at Sarry to the line. The Surplus Personnel embussed at 9.30pm and proceeded to LA MADELEINE (near VERTUS), arriving at 3.30am.
