Entry No movement as usual by day. During the night of 26/27th the enemy attempted a silent raid on our front line ("A" coy Left front coy). His numbers seem to have been about 60 and he made a determined effort to obtain identifications. "A" company however beat off the raiders inflicting heavy losses on them. Afterwards they were able to identify the dead as belonging to the 179th Regiment (STORM TROOPS). 18 OR to England on leave. Lieut FT YOUNG rejoined from 202nd coy RE & proceeded to IX Corps Infantry School with 2/Lts FC BRITTAIN and AH CHANDLER and 2 OR. 2/Lts HS STARKEY to IX Corps Lewis Gun School with 2 OR. 2/Lt EL HALL to 202nd coy REs.
