Location Belgium, Palace Camp
Entry Usual routine during the morning. Battalion paraded at 7.30pm and moved into the trenches (RITZ STREET, KITE STREET and NORMAN STREET). Settled by 2am (29th). Regimental Transport and Details moved to H.26.central (near DICKEBUSCH). The Battalion proceeded to the above trenches via H and 11 tracks (N of DICKEBUSCH, CAFÉ BELGE, CHATEAU SEGARD, IRON BRIDGE, BEDFORD HOUSE, to ZILLEBEKE VILLAGE, and it entered trenches via VALLEY COTTAGES and DORMY HOUSE. Difficulty was experienced in getting into position, as the 18th MANCHESTERS were occupying RITZ STREET, but two companies moved out to WELLINGTON CRESCENT. During the assembly the enemy shelled the area around DORMY HOUSE with 4.2s and gas shells.
