Entry Enemy artillery fire continuous throughout the day, shelling with 4.2s, 5.9s, and lachrymatory shells ZILLEBEKE BUND, ECOLE, YPRES and ZILLEBEKE village. An enemy 'plane was brought down behind its own lines at 7am, and another was brought down by our 'planes at 4.30pm, the left wing being shot away. One of our observation balloons broke loose at 2pm and travelled NW, the observers coming down safely in parachutes near YPRES. Work was carried out on Front Line, WELLINGTON CRESCENT and RITZ STREET. "A" Company were under RE supervision. Capt WB GARDNER and 2/Lieut HC CLARK took out a patrol of 20 other ranks, and reconnoitred around points A ( J.19.a.09.44), B( J.19.a.26.58), C ( J.19.a.26.75), D ( I.24.b.92.79).
