Entry Enemy aggressive as regards artillery and aerial activity, but infantry quiet. Our artillery shelled JAM SUPPORT opposite our front. 3 of our observation balloons were brought down by hostile planes. At night work was carried out, sandbagging WARRINGTON AVENUE and pumping out water at junction with CHALMERS AVENUE. Work was carried out by "B" and "C" Companies making WELLINGTON CRESCENT and RITZ STREET habitable and sanitary. Capt WB GARDNER took out a patrol of 24 other ranks to reconnoitre point A ( J.19.a.09.44 ) and point D ( I.24.b.92.79 ). These points were found to be unoccupied, and also trench between.
