Entry | All quiet during the morning. About 3.30pm the enemy commenced shelling CUINCHY village with heavy shells. 47 HE fell from 3.30 pm to 4.30pm doing considerable material damage to CUINCHY distillery, several shells fell at PONT FIXE A14 G2.2 killing two men of 'D' Company and wounding 3 men who were billeted in the village as Battalion reserve Capt PP Legg to hospital also CSM Grimes of 'D' Coy and four other ranks. 'B' Company took over Orchard Keep and a portion of fire trench from the 2nd Battalion Yorkshire Regt who were on our left. |
