| Entry | Relieved 1/4th Cameron Highlanders in the trenches. 2Lt MSG Bigwood joined for duty and posted to 'B' Coy. The following complimentary letter was received from Major General HE Watts CB CMG " On relinquishing command of the 21st Brigade after a year spent with it on active service, I wish to place on record my deep appreciation of the splendid fighting and soldierly qualities of the Officers NCOs and men of the Battalions in the Brigade shown throughout 12 strenuous months and proved by acts of bravery and devotion to duty too numerous to mention. I am quite aware that I owe my promotion to the splendid work done by those under my command and am glad to think that I shall still have my old Brigade with me." |
