Entry | (11th & 12th) The morning was mainly devoted to thorough inspections of kit, arms, equipment etc. Between 11.30a.m. & 1p.m. two Coys were employed upon protecting the huts against bombs, by banking up the earth against the walls of the huts. This work was continued on the following day by the whole Battn, only one hour in the morning being set aside for training under Coy arrangements. On the 12th a Lewis gun class was formed and continued to be held daily. The sniping section was raised in strength to 24 other ranks and was placed under the command of 2nd Lieut S C Smith who was appointed Battn Intelligence Officer in place of Lieut H W B Burkett. In the afternoon a half hours musketry parade was held, and was followed by inter Coy and inter platoon matches upon the three football grounds which had been arranged for on the previous day in the vicinity of the Camp. |
