War Diary

1918-01-03
Regiment 1st Wiltshire
Location France, Lagnicourt
Entry (3rd - 8th) The left sub sector was held by the 8th L N Lancs Regt (Lieut Col Cauldwell DSO). Throughout the tour the enemy's attitude was generally quiet, his principal activity being directed against the village of LAGNICOURT. Aerial activity was rather restricted owing to the weather which was very cold and frosty: also a good deal of snow fell. On Jan 5th the enemy was reported massing on the front of the Corps on our left South West of MOEUVRES but were apparently effectively dealt with by our artillery as no attack took place. During this tour the Battn only sustained two casualties both wounded and remaining on duty. The new new [sic] CT BAIRD AVENUE was completed and a new mined dugout for Coy HQ was started by the Battn labour platoon under 2nd Lieut E T Burry.
