Entry | Trenches. In the early morning of the 11th warning was received that the Third Army was expecting a hostile attempt to regain part of the lost HINDENBURG LINE. On the morning of the 11th. A strong patrol was sent out to ascertain if there were any indication of hostile assembly and concentration, and by 6a.m. three posts had been established well in advance of our wire upon the Battn front, each of the strength - 1 NCO and 12 men and a Lewis Gun. These were withdrawn at dawn. There was no hostile action, but the enemy was again quiet throughout the day. Heavy artillery shelled QUEANT and registration was also carried out. Hostile shelling with 4.2s was directed upon the vicinity of BRADFORD RESERVE between 10a.m. and 12 noon and between 1p.m. and 2.30p.m. |
