Regiment 1st Wiltshire
Location France, Le Bizet
Entry (2nd - 6th) During this period the Battn remained in Bde Support. There were small fatigues to supply and these were all given to one Coy at a time, thus leaving 2 Coys free for Company Parades and training during the morning. The remaining company provided garrisons for the Supporting Points. The morning parades included physical training, bayonet fighting, arm drill, instruction in dummy bomb throwing etc. In the afternoons the recent drafts were given live bomb throwing practice. On the 4th there was an outbreak of what was judged to be German Measles in the Battn. A considerable number of men were isolated and the whole Battn was medically inspected. In the evening the Medical Authorities decided that is was not German Measles and gave orders that the whole Battn on the following day was to have baths and have all clothing and blankets disinfected. This was carried out on the 5th and no other parades could be held. The New Year's List of Awards continued the names of Major W M Austin and RSM Parker S J, both awarded the Military Cross. On the 6th inst. Reinforcements, 15 other ranks joined the Battn for duty. Lieut E S Fowler rejoined the Battn from hospital. Lieut Wait rejoined from hospital on the 5th.
