Entry The trenches. Another quiet day. Neither side showing much activity. There was the usual amount of repairing work carried out in the front line. Early on the morning of the 28th, while out on a listening post 29767 Pte Carter, N (B Coy) was killed by a chance rifle bullet. At night when wire was being put out in front of company Sector, 23338 Pte Wicks, JR was killed by a sniper, working by the aid of a searchlight which had been regularly employed several nights previous, the searchlight apparently being situated in the enemy's support line.
