War Diary

1916-11-22
Regiment 1st Wiltshire
Location Belgium, Le Touquet Sector
Entry In the trenches. Enemy artillery was active in the afternoon when several shrapnel shells fell round RUTTER LODGE on the extreme left of the Battn Sector: other shrapnel burst over No Man's Land nearer the enemy's line than ours, this leading to the supposition that he was ranging on No Man's Land. Our snipers were active: their claim for the day was - 2 enemy snipers hit, I enemy sniper silenced, 2 periscopes smashed. There was the usual patrolling at night, but the enemy appeared to be quiet inactive in this respect. 2nd Lieut W W Awdrey of B Coy was accidentally wounded while cleaning a revolver. Weather fine.
