Location Belgium, Le Touquet Sector
Entry The trenches. During the morning and afternoon many small trench mortar bombs fell in rear of GAP F on the left of the Battn sector and also in rear of the Battn on the left. Our own trench mortars were slow in opening retaliatory fire and many bombs failed to explode. In the early morning a hostile working party was observed outside the trench and was fired on. Three hits were claimed by one of our sentry posts. Work: further repairs to parapet and drainage of front line, insertion of revetting frames in the fire line, sire in front of line was strengthened in several places where weak. The were two casualties in the day: Pte Cleverly, W (C Coy) killed by an enemy sniper: Pte Mitchell, G (B Coy) wounded.
