Entry The trenches. The Battn relieved the 10th Cheshire Regt in the left subsector of the LE TOUQUET sector. Relief was completed by 1.30p.m. without a casualty. There was considerable rain during the day, and work chiefly consisted of repairing trenches where fallen in. The snipers claimed one hit. Both sides were quiet throughout the day. The enemy fired a few xxxxx in the neighbourhood of RESERVE FM and caused one casualty. Pte Besant of A Coy wounded. About dawn a hostile working party was dispersed by Lewis Gun fire from the right Coy. During the day both sides were actively engaged upon drainage operations and the enemy was observed baling water out of his front line. The Regt snipers claimed on hit. There was one other casualty, L/Cpl Evans (C Coy) wounded. 2nd Lieut V W Gunning was wounded on 8th, but remained at duty.
