Home of the Infantry Regiments of Berkshire and Wiltshire

War Diary

1916-10-03
Regiment 1st Wiltshire
Location France, Stuff Redoubt
Entry Lieut Colonel Finlay left the Battn, sick. The command was then taken over by Capt Austin. The day, on the whole, was quiet, but guns bombarded the enemy trenches at 4.30p.m. for about 1 hour, causing retaliation on our front and support trenches. The weather was very wet and the trenches unspeakably muddy.
