Entry | Major Freeman of 3rd Leinster Regt was attached to Battn for course of duty in the trenches. Situation very quiet with exception of a few trench mortars on front line. Reserve Coys went up to front line in the evening and put out wire in front of New Front Line. Occupied New Front Line and connected this line with the support line with saps. In spite of very heavy casualties he erected a block in an enemy communication trench thus protecting our left flank. He showed great ability in commanding his platoon during the attack.
