Regiment | 1st Wiltshire |

Location | France, The Pylones |
Entry | In the trenches. During the night of the 29/30th a party was put on to repair the damage done to Grange CT by shell fire : little wiring could be done. In the morning the Grange CT was again shelled and during the afternoon several rifle grenades were fired at the outpost line of P75. One German was shot: their own sniping was very quiet. Repairs to firesteps and parapet were carried out on the P line, and work on the PS line was continued. In the evening, the left centre and support companies were relieved by the 10th Cheshire Regt: the support company weren't back to ACQ, the left company to MONT ST ELOY, while the centre company moved in the PS line and Brigade Reserve and worked on this line during the night. The right company remained in the line: the night passed very quietly, there being only one casualty. Pte Neville, P, a Battn bomber, wounded. During the 29th and 30th all company HQs in the line were connected to Battn HQ in QUARRIES by armoured cable. |
