Entry In the trenches. During the night of the 27/28th, while wiring was in progress there was a considerable amount of enemy machine gun fire, which delayed work: no one was hit. There was little sniping on the part of the enemy whereas two Germans are claimed to have been hit. In the evening the top of Grange CT was damaged by shell and trench mortar fire, and repaired at night. General repairs of the P and outpost lines wire were carried out: other parties were engaged on clearing out the PS line. There were six casualties:- Wounded, Cpl Hickman, H. Ptes Robinson, H, Stone, W, Annetts, J, Harris, G and Merritt, W J. Fighting strength - Officers 26, other ranks, 680. Actual number in trenches:- Officers 17, ORs 520.
