Entry The trenches. During the night of the 22nd/23rd rifle grenades and Stokes mortars were fired into the enemy crater posts. The day was quiet, two Germans were shot and a sniper opposite the top of Grange CT was silenced. Work consisted in building up the parapet of P74 and wiring the valley between Birkin and Common Craters. Wire was also put up in front of two posts of the right Coy. Five other ranks of D Coy were wounded:- Sgt Edwards, W. Ptes Lovelock, C, Lovegrove, A H, Coombes, A and Maill, A W.
