War Diary

1916-05-06
Regiment 1st Wiltshire
Location France, La Targette
Entry During the night of the 6th the Battn was particularly active with bombs, rifle grenades, trench mortars and Lewis rifles and by day the snipers were busy. The reply was very weak and the whole day passed without a casualty. On the other hand five of the enemy were sniped and it is believed that some casualties were caused by the night bombing. Work was put in on the fixing of firesteps and strengthening of parapet in the P line and the Pirates: the posts at the new Birkin and Grange Crater were also strengthened. Weather very fine.
