Entry | In the trenches. Work throughout the day consisted of baling the trenches, which after the recent rain were in a very bad state. Three of the enemy were sniped. His body was not discovered until the next morning as it was out in advance of the outpost line by the craters. Two officers were wounded, Lieut E E Brown and 2nd Lieut K C Nichols, the former very slightly, so that he was able to remain at duty: the latter by a bomb. Casualties among the men were as follows:- Pte Coles R killed, Ptes Coleman H and Hemmings D wounded. |
