Home of the Infantry Regiments of Berkshire and Wiltshire

War Diary

1916-04-01
Regiment 1st Wiltshire
Location France, Ternas
Entry The Battn went on a route march, Orders had been received that the Battn was not to pass a certain point until the Corps Commander had arrived for the purpose of inspecting them. After waiting three hours there was still no sign of the Corps Commander and the Battn was marched back reaching billets at 3p.m. In the afternoon a few events in the "sports" were held. A boxing match between Sgt Lewis of the Battn and a Pte in the 8th LNL resulted in an easy wind to the latter. Weather very fine.
