War Diary

1916-01-03
Regiment 1st Wiltshire
Location Belgium, Ploegsteert Wood
Entry The Battn went up into the trenches and relieved the 8th Loyal North Lancs. There was considerable shelling while the relief was in progress, but no casualties occurred. The enemy set fire to the thatched ruin which was being used as an artillery observation post near the west end of ST YVES. As the St Yves CT was shelled it is quite possible the enemy may have thought that it was being used by a relieving party. Weather bright and sunny.
