During 1784, England, Trowbridge. Regiment marched to Hilsea for embarkation to foreign service, but peace having taken place this order was cancelled. Instead they marched to Berwick, Musselburgh and Dundee from where they embarked for Ireland

On 4 June 1785, West Indies, Kingstown, St.Vincent. The Regiment reached here, the transport 'Betsey' having arrived in the harbour on June 2nd. The Regiment was mainly quartered at Berkshire Hills and Dorsethire Hills, with small detachments often quartered at Vizie and Byabow.

On 1 Apr 1788, West Indies, Barbados. 49th had been at sea since January, on transports 'Eliza', 'Swan' and 'Alexander' on its way back to the West Indies. They disembarked at Barbados before going on to Carlisle Bay, where it remained until January 1792
