On 20 Sept 1899, England. Draft (2 Corporals, 123 Privates, one wife and two children) embarked in Hired Transport 'Simal' for India and 1st Battalion at Quetta.
On 20 Sept 1899, Channel Islands, Guernsey. Headquarters, 'B', 'F', 'G' and 'H' Companies sailed in SS 'Vera' for Alderney on 19 September and to England on 20 September. Baggage brought off by SS 'Courier'. Arrived the same day and occupied Maida Barracks South Camp.
On 27 Sept 1899, England, Aldershot. Over the next months drafts arrived from the Depot at Devizes:

On 7 Oct 1899, India, Quetta. Battalion, 23 Officers and 772 Rank and File marched to Chasma Tangi for one Month for Hill Warfare training, returning on 7 November
On 22 Oct 1899, England, Southampton. Mounted Infantry Section (One Officer, one Corporal and 33 Rank and File) sailed in SS 'Orient' on Active Service in the Boer War.
