On 8 Oct 1864, China, Kowloon. Number 1 Company (Two Officers, 61 Other Ranks, 14 women and eight children) embarked on steam ship 'Shooyleen' for Taku forts, arriving there on 25 October
During Jan 1865, Ireland, Dublin. Depot joined the Regiment from Belfast.
During the year the Regiment was stationed at Mullingar.
On 27 July two companies prepared for embarkation to India, Bombay, the remaining service companies embarking on 21 August.
On 28 Feb 1865, China, Kowloon. Regiment (except Number 1 Company) embarked on HMS 'Tamar'. Sailed for Cape of Good Hope on 1 March. Headquarters with 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 Companies arrived at Port Natal on 9 April and disembarked. Marched to Durban and encamped
On 13 Apr 1865, South Africa, Durban. Headquarters with 6, 7, 9 and 10 Companies (8 remains at Durban) begin march to Fort Napier, Pietermaritzburg - 56 miles. Arrived on 19 April and proceeded to quarters
On 5 July 1865, South Africa, Fort Napier. Detachment, (Seven Officers and 178 Other Ranks) marched for Ladysmith (100 miles) in aid of Civil Power for protection against dissident Basutos
On 27 July 1865, England, Aldershot. Detachment with Band and Colours transported by rail to Pembroke Dock to form Guard of Honour to HRH Prince Arthur (Alfred deleted) at inauguration of memorial to Prince Consort at Tenby
On 2 Aug 1865, England, Aldershot. Regiment transported by South Western Railway to Portsmouth, where it embarked on HMS TS 'Orantes', setting sail for Plymouth on 3 August, which it reached on 4 August and five companies disembarked. 'Orantes' sailed for Pembroke Dock, where the remainder of Regiment disembarked on 5 August
