On 28 Aug 1858, Canada, Nova Scotia, Halifax. Number 4 Company detached to St. John, New Brunswick to relieve Number 2 Company, which returns to Halifax the same day. Number 4 Company rejoined Headquarters on 15 June 1859 on relief by 63rd Foot.
During Sept 1858, Canada, Nova Scotia. Telegraph order received. Not to return to England. [Note - No previous reference to returning to England received]. Ten days after Telegraph order, mail arrives, with orders to return to England, accompanied by counter-order.
On 20 Sept 1858, England, Aldershot. Regiment marched to Farnborough station and entrained for Portsmouth, there embarked on steam ship 'Lady Jocelyn'. Sailed from Spithead on 21 September for Calcutta, arriving there on 18 December
On 23 Jan 1860, India, Cannanore. The orders for the Regiment to prepare for service in China were cancelled. The Regiment remained here with detachments at various places until December 1862
