On 21 Sept 1829, India, Berhampur. General Sir Gordon Drummond G.C.B. became Colonel of the Regiment. On 30 July 1830 Lieutenant Colonel Daniell arrived from Cape and took command. In February 1831 Lieutenant Colonel Dennis took over command from Lieutenant Colonel Daniell, who went to Cawnpore, returning to the Regiment on 5 October 1832.
