Entry 02.00. Battn proceeded by march route to assembly places at X 2.6.7d. For attack on Green Line from X.5.c 35.50 to R 31.d.9.9 but owing to leading Battn failing to take its objective, the Battn was unable to reach its assembly position and carry out attack. The Battn withdrew to sunken road. In W.6.6. (Sheet 57c S E). 10.00. Battn came under tactical command of 62nd Inf Bde and proceeded to R.25 central with orders to proceed from there to assembly position in sunken road at R.27 a & b in order to attack enemy trenches in R.28, thus cutting off enemy retreat from GONNELIEU. On arriving in the neighbourhood of R 25 central it was discovered that the enemy was still holding trench system in R. 27 a & b so that the attack was impossible. Battn too up a position in FERN BLOCK R 21 c. Battn HQ established at R.20.a.8.8. (Map Sheet 37c S E). 20.00. Battn returned to sunken road W.6.c & d (Sheet 7c S E)
