1st Bn, Royal Berkshire Regiment - A black and white photogragh of Captain Robert Bruce Swinton?s funeral procession at Inkerman Barracks, Woking, 1904. Born in Madras in India in 1864, he was commissioned into the Royal Berkshire Regiment in 1886. He served in Egypt, Cyprus, Bermuda, Malta and at home. During the Boer War, he was seconded to the 3rd Royal West Sussex Regiment and was mentioned in dispatches twice. He was qualified as a Musketry and Signals instructor. A brass memorial to his memory is located in the old Regimental Garrison Church, St George?s Road, Reading.
