1st Bn, Royal Berkshire Regiment - A black and white photograph showing the mobilization of the Battalion which took place between the 4th and the 8th August 1914 at Mandora Barracks, Aldershot. The mobilization was part of a previously practiced exercise and by all accounts went very smoothly. As well as getting the men and kit ready, the Battalion had to absorb a significant number of reservists. This image shows the 1st ?½ Battalion about to entrain at Farnborough railway station en-route to Southampton 12th August 1914. General Sir T. Perrott bids them farewell and is seen here talking to Captain Bromhead.

1st Bn, Royal Berkshire Regiment - A black and white photograph of the Commanding officer Colonel M D Graham (centre) and the head of his Battalion as they marched into Lydd in Kent after marching from Dover in 1913. They arrived there to carry out musketry practice. On the right is the senior Major, Major Finch, and in the rear is the Adjutant, Captain Perrott.
