It is believed he initially joined the 6th Battalion and later transferred to the 1st. He was wounded in 1915 and later died of wounds on the 16th October 1916. He was the son of George Were Leach and Mary Julia Leach, of 37, Landor Rd., Stockwell, London. He is buried in Contay British Cemetery, Contay.

He was the son of George Were Leach and Mary Julia Leach, of 37, Landor Rd., Stockwell, London. He is buried in Contay British Cemetery, Contay. Seated front left is his brother L/Corporal Lionel Leach. The two standing have not been identified but are believed to be family members.

He was the son of George Were Leach and Mary Julia Leach, of 37, Landor Rd., Stockwell, London. He is buried in Contay British Cemetery, Contay. Standing rear left is his brother Lionel Leach, and sat front left is his father George Were Leach. Sat front right is his mother Mary Julia Leach. The young lad in the centre is another brother, name not known.
