Royal Berkshire Militia - A sepia portrait photograph of Lieutenant Mowbray Allfrey taken between 1872 and 1874. He came from Stanbury and resided at Flore Field in Weedon. He was born in 1853, the eldest son of Frederick Allfrey, of Stanbury, by Emily, daughter of Sir Robert Mowbray, of Cockairine, Fife. He was promoted to Lieutenant on the 3rd August 1872, later transferring to the 15th Hussars on the 2nd December 1874. He became the Adjutant of the Cheshire Yeomanry in 1884-84. He retired from the Army in 1888. He married, in 1881, the Hon. Beatrice Augusta Emmeline, eldest daughter of Baron Saye and Sele.
