View Item1st Bn, Wiltshire Regiment - Three newspaper cuttings (Copyright) regarding the death of Major Percy Hamilton Seymour, the Duke of Somerset, who died aged 74. He joined the Regiment in 1933 and served in India at the begining of the 2nd World War. During the War he was with the Indian Army in Iraq, Persia and Burma. He retired from the Army as a Major in 1954. There are also two copies of a Chapter XV entitled "How we met a defeat" (taken out from unknown publication). On the copies there is a photograph depicting "A group at the Dzongpen's Shekar" showing Colonel Norton. Finally there is one page from "The Journal of the Wiltshire Regiment" with an article entitled 'Major The Duke of Somerset', regarding his service

SBYRW : 46901st Bn, Royal Berkshire Regiment - A series of documents belonging to F Moor, including typed copies of diary excerpts entitled 'The Raid' and 'The Somme', these recollections are dated from the 26 June 1916. Also included are a series of notes taken from the Battalion Diary written at the time and three letters. The first two letters are written to Major Cockcraft from F Moor and are cover letters written to accompany the documents when they were sent to the museum. They are dated 14 August and 27 April 1980. The third letter is written by F Moor to the BBC and is concerned with a broadcast for schools about the Somme, it is dated 19 September 1978.
