1st Volunteer Bn, Royal Berkshire Regiment - A hard backed photograph album consisting of 30 double sided pages. It was maintained and owned by Colonel Oswald Pearce-Serocold. He was born July 24, 1865 and Gazetted into the Regiment on the 7th January 1885. The first image in the book is dated 1885 when he joined and mainly consists of officer groups charting his progress through the officer ranks to Commanding Officer, and Honorary Colonel. It covers the lead up to the 1st World War, then resumes afterwards with the final image being in the early 1920s. In the later years he was temporarily seconded to the Army Service corps and there are images covering that period (not copied). He held the offices of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) and of Justice of the Peace (J.P.). He lived at Taplow Hill, Buckinghamshire. He was invested as a Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.).

It contains 13 double sided pages with only 9 being utilized. It contains portrait images of officers who served in the battalion up to and including the 1st World War by which time the battalion had been become the 4th Battalion (and on the outbreak of war the 1st4th Battalion).
