SBYRW : 651141st Bn, Duke of Edinburgh's Royal Regiment – A file of papers generated by Lieutenant Colonel D J A Stone when compiling information for his book ‘Cold War Warriors' the history of the Regiment brought about by the amalgamation in 1994. It includes communications from ex-soldiers with information, and minutes of meetings relating to the amount of financial support would come from the Regiment. Included is a letter from Ex Private K. Fox who gave information about the battalion photograph taken on the square at Clifton barracks, Minden, West Germany, 1969 (The Regiments tenth anniversary). Included is an original hard cover that was subsequently taken into use when the book was published.

SBYRW : 651226th Bn, Wiltshire Regiment - A black and white photograph of Brigadier General Walter Long. At the time of his death he was the officer commanding the 56th Infantry Division in France. He was killed on the 28th January, 1917. His original unit was the 2nd Dragoons (Royal Scots Greys.). He is connected to the 6th Wilts Regiment as he was the battalion Commanding Officer during 1915 - 1916. He is buried in Couin British Cemetery, France. [ Awards Companion of St. Michael and St. George, Distinguished Service Order, Twice Mentioned in Despatches Additional Info Order of St. Stanislas 2nd Class, with swords. Son of Rt. Hon. Walter Hume Long, P.C., M.P. Secretary of State for the Colonies (afterwards 1st Viscount Long of Wraxall) and of Lady Dorothy Blanche Long (now Viscountess Long of Wraxall) daughter of 9th Earl of Cork and Orrery; husband of Hon. Mrs. Walter Long, O.B.E. (now Hon. Mrs. Ralph Glyn).We belive this image was taken shortlu after he was prpmoted from the 6th Battalion in 1916. )
