SBYRW : 3153849th Regiment - A sepia photograph of a number of graves at Cathcarts Hill Cemetery in the Crimea including three from the 49th Regiment; these are, from left to right, Lieutenant and Adjutant Armstrong who was killed on the 5th November 1854. He was killed at Inkerman near the French camp. Next is Major T.N. Dalton who was killed on the 5th November 1854 at Inkerman, aged 35. He was the son of John Dalton, of Ripon, Yorkshire and served with the 61st in the Punjab Campaign and joined the 49th Foot in 1853. Last is Major Powell who was killed 28th October1854 in the trenches before Sebastopol on the 28th October 1854.
