2nd Bn, Wiltshire Regiment - A black and white photo of the Officers in Syria in 1944; a note with this photo reads . 'Having taken part in the landings in Sicily and Italy the breakout from Anzio and the advance to Rome in 1943, the,2nd Wiltshires were withdrawn for a rest having suffered nearly 600 casualties in three months. In July 1944 the 5th Division of which,2nd Wiltshires had been a part since the start of the War moved to Palestine with the Wiltshires spending most of their time training at Nathanya, Damascus - near where this photo was taken - and Gaza. The photo shows the Officers seated with Gen Sir William Platt, the Colonel of the Regiment.'

2nd Bn, Wiltshire Regiment - A photographic album relating to the visit of General Platt the Colonel of Regiment's visit to the Battalion in Krefeld, Germany September, 1948. In addition some of the images relate to a visit to Holland with senior members off the battalion to visit Oosterbeek Cemetery where several members of the regiment were buried. This was the last visit to the battalion before it was merged with the 1st Battalion as part of the post war reduction of infantry battalions. [A copy of 10223]
