He served in the 2nd Battalion in South Africa during the Boer War, later with the 1st Battalion in India and during the 1st World War with the 7th Battalion with whom he was wounded and later died on the 16th December, 1918.

SBYRW : 614901st Bn, Wiltshire Regiment - A black and white portrait photograph Lance Corporal 18645 E. Garland. He served in the 2nd Battalion in South Africa during the Boer War, later with the 1st Battalion in India and during the 1st World War with the 7th Battalion with whom he was wounded and later died on the 16th December, 1918. He is buried in St Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen, France. He was the husband of B. E. Garland, of 175, Steel's Lane, Bremmington Common, Chesterfield.
