SBYRW : 28923Wiltshire Regiment - A black and white photograph of the Parade formed up in Salisbury Market Square on 3 December 1947 when the Regiment was awarded the Freedom of Salisbury. Number 1 Company was formed by soldiers from the 1st Battalion; Number 2 Company consisted of the Colour parties of the 1st and 4th Battalions together with the standards from fourteen branches of the Old Comrades Associations. Major Dutton MC commanded No 1 Company, Lieutenant Colonel Luce DSO commanded No 2 Company and Major Read No 3 Company. The parade as a whole was commanded by Lieutenant Colonel N Kenrick. The county cadets lined the parade ground.The 1st Battalion colour bearers were Lieutenant Etherington, Lieutenant Fairclough. The 4th Battalion bearers were Captain Brain and Captain Newton-Clare MC. The Bandmaster was Bandmaster Dalrymple, Parade Adjutant Major Royle, The RSM was RSM White, [No 1 Company RSM Davies, No 2 Company RSM Bull]
