1st Bn, Wiltshire Regiment - A sepia photograph of the Sergeants Mess in Rawlpindi, India in 1882. Only a few of these men have been identified. In the rear row, on the left is Sergeant Cane (Provost Sergeant), 3rd from the left is Sergeant Cole (Officers mess Sergeant - A note in the album states that he married the pretty daughter of Private and Mrs O' Keefe, 8th from the left is Sergeant Yardley who was the older of two brothers serving and who later reached the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and 10th from the left is Sergeant Kelly. In the 2nd row and on the extreme right is Sergeant Milson. In the 3rd row, on the extreme left is Sergeant Perry, 3rd from the left is Colour Sergeant Pendlebury, 5th from the left is Sergeant Webster, 7th from the left is Colour Sergeant Holland and 8th from the left is Band Sergeant Spencer. In the 4th row, 2nd from the left is the Master Tailor, 3rd from the left is the Paymaster Sergeant, 4th from the left is Quartermaster Sergeant Robinson, 5th from the left is Sergeant Major Pepper, 6th from the left is Lieutenant Picot, 7th from the left is the Bandmaster, 9th from the left is Sergeant Dowding with Sergeant Mankelow 11th from the left Sergeant Kennell. In the bottom row, 3rd from the left is Sergeant Yardley who was the younger of two brothers serving, 4th from the left is Sergeant Tucker and on the extreme right is Colour Sergeant McCloud of 'F' Company who had been a sailor before joining the Regiment.
