SBYRW : 70392nd Bn, Royal Berkshire Regiment - A black and white photo of a Sergeants Group in Egypt around 1936. We believe Sergeant Whitfield is Sergeant Walter Whitefield who later became the RSM until 1944 when he was promoted to a Qm commission with the Royal Armoured Corps. At some point in the rank he also served with the Kings African Rifles. He died in service in 1948 and is buried in the Dar Es Salaam (Kinondoni) Tanzania. Municipal Cemetery.
