SBYRW : 637981st Bn, Royal Berkshire Regiment - A black and white digital photograph of members of the battalion at Hythe in 1935 when carrying out their annual rifle classification. Standing Left is Bandsman Richens (Killed in France 1940), 2nd Left Private Dyer, 3rd Left, name not known but nicknamed 'creeping Jesus' as he was what they described him as as a 'Bible puncher'. 4th Left Drum Major John Higgs, Right Sergeant Major Warner (nicknamed 'Plum'). Sat right is Private Ernest William Fereday. Sat front centre he name is not known but was nicknamed 'Froggy the Frog'. He at some point ended up in hospital and whilst there studied for a BA in Chinese Art which he achieved.
